Thomas W. Bucher
Thomas W. Bucher, 59, of Columbia, PA died unexpectedly on Sunday. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Retired Judge Wilson Bucher and the late Christine Walther Bucher. Tom was a graduate of Columbia High School and Penn State University. He served on the staff of the late Congressman Edwin D. Eshleman for eight years. He was currently employed as a Supervisor with the Impaired Driver’s Unit of the Probation and Parole Office, Court of Common Pleas of Lancaster County. Tom was scheduled to retire from his position at the end of this month.
During the Cold War, Tom enlisted in the United States Army and served with the First Calvary Division on the East German Border. He was a graduate of the U.S. Army Intelligence Center.
In addition to his father, he is survived by 2 Sisters: Christine wife of Steven R. Blair of Lancaster, PA and Anne wife of Michael W. Owen of Annapolis, MD. Also surviving is a Niece and 5 Nephews.
Funeral Services for Tom will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA with the Rev. Deborah L. Brumbaugh officiating. Interment will follow in Silver Spring Cemetery. There will be no public viewing; however, the family will receive friends on Sunday at the Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
